“Bruges is a beautiful medieval city almost untouched by time. If you like jazz, you will be well catered for. If you like chocolate and beer, you will be in heaven.”

“Really love this hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast buffet. The bedroom is quirkily situated in the sloping roof line with a well appointed ensuite. But the best thing of all is the view from the terrace and the breakfast room out over the water with endless boat trippers taking photos of the beautiful building. On one side tranquil water and on the other side right in the old town with every tourist attraction, chocolate shop and restaurant a 2 minute walk away. “

“Very beautiful and characteristic hotel in a great location. Very close to Markt Square and on the canal. The hotel staff is very helpful with maps, directions, recommendations. We were able to leave our bags the next morning, while we visited a few sights. The room was quite big, with tall windows that opened up to the canal. Definitely would recommend and stay at this hotel again..”

PLAN YOUR VISIT

some of the many activities in Bruges..

Cruise on the canals

When weather permits the canal boats are definitely a recommended activity for young and old.  The view from the water brings a unique perspective over the city and the buildings.  The tours cannot be booked but start at 10 and finish around 18h.  There are 5 companies and they all offer the same trip at the same rate.  So the key is to jump on before the queue becomes too long !

Horse and carriage ride

Starting from the central square the horse drawn carriages offer two different tours. Choose the highlight tour or the more off the beaten track tour. Both offer a wonderful experience of Bruges in two very different ways. The ride costs around 50 Euro for half an hour trip with a small break for the horse to refuel 🙂

Bruges by night

Definitely do not forget to wander around at night through the streets, over the squares and by the canals.  When lit up (between dusk and midnight) a whole different atmosphere is created by the lights that illuminate the monuments and sights.  The canal pictured above is the Groene rei near to the Vismarkt (the old fish market).
